My buddy Hannah in her new and improved Faire outfit.

Now THIS one I'm proud of. Not bad for dollar bin fabric, if I do say so myself. I just love the cut of the dress too. SOOOOOO much better than the last one I made her. ::shudder::

What kind of fabric did you use? I have the pattern for this dress, but I dunno what type of fabric I want to use.

I used some curtain fabric I found on the discount rack at Walmart.

You want something a little heavier like cotton brocade (make sure it doesn't have any weather-resistant lining on it), a tafeta blend, or a crushed velvet blend. Make sure the fabric isn't too stretchy or else it will just drag and pull itself out of shape. You want something light enough that it will give the proper effect and billow out behind you a bit when you walk.

One other thing: Butterick tends to run big. Hannah wears a Sewing Size 10 and she needed the Butterick 8.
